Monday, for the next 10 weeks. I’m taking riding lessons! I can’t tell you how excited I am to learn something new. I’m not sure where this is going to take me. There are so many things I’d like to try with Jewels. She’s has an exceptional ability to grasp things quickly. Much more than any other horse I’ve trained to do a job. As long, as you take the time to break it down for her in pieces. She absorbs it like a sponge. Never forgetting what she’s learned.
Today, Jewels and I worked on a slow and collected trot. She gets a little heavy on the forehand and I wasn’t quite sure how to break the old habits she’s acquired. Hopefully, the trainer will shed some light on my mistakes. The trainer asked that I lower my hands and see-saw on the bit lightly and set a block. After we worked the arena for thirty minutes or so, Jewels fell into a nice low sweeping trot. She lifted her back and floated over the floor. It felt very light and effortless. There was no bounce at all. I was so proud of our accomplishments. I can’t wait until next week.
